Overview

Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Training – FAA

Whether you’re looking to enhance the capabilities of your Flight Operations or Dispatch department, earn an FAA License to start or further your aviation career, or simply want to try something new in an ever growing and exciting field, the FlightSafety Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Course is for you.

The Aircraft Dispatcher, also known as a Flight or Airline Dispatcher, is responsible for authorizing and overseeing the operation of a flight from before takeoff to after landing. Often referred to as “The Pilot on the Ground”, the Dispatcher prepares flight plans, taking into account important factors such as weather conditions, fuel requirements, and potential hazards, with full knowledge of aircraft systems and FAA regulations, to ensure the safe completion of flight.

FlightSafety provides this Federal Aviation Administration Approved Course, which fully prepares participants for the FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification (Licensing) Exams.

This Initial course exceeds FAA regulations by providing 24 hours over the required 200 hours of instruction. All of the following subjects are covered, along with a final review and FAA Exam preparation:

Also provided is a 2-hour full-motion simulator observation to enhance subject matter comprehension and knowledge of flight operations.

To accommodate different schedules, this course is offered in either a 6-week format for full time students, or a 12-week format for part time students. The part time format is offered with morning or afternoon availability.

This course is VA Approved, and eligible for GI Benefits.

Initial Course Requirements

To be eligible to take the course, a person must:

  • Have reached 21 years of age.
  • Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English Language.

 

To be eligible for an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate (License), a person must:

  • Have reached 23 years of age.
  • Pass the required knowledge and practical tests (Oral exam/flight planning practical test).

 

Reduced Certification Course for Aviation Professionals
Individuals with a background in aviation may be eligible for reducing the length of their course. Reductions are granted on a case by case basis, upon individual evaluation of knowledge and experience.

Aircraft Dispatcher Recurrent Training

FlightSafety provides this invaluable training for Licensed Dispatchers, or individuals with equivalent operational experience. The Recurrent course is designed to enhance proficiency and is structured to meet the requirements of airline and corporate flight departments. It offers a thorough review of material covered during Initial Dispatch training, incorporating newer trends and procedures accordingly.

This 24-hour course is conducted over three days at our Learning Center, and covers an in-depth review of the following subjects:

  • Air Traffic Control
  • Navigation
  • Aircraft Propulsion and Systems
  • Performance
  • Weight and Balance
  • Flight Planning Workshop
  • Dispatch Resource Management

Recurrent Course Requirements

To be eligible to take the course, a person must have:

  • Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate/or
  • Operational experience in a Flight Department

 

On-Site Training

With sufficient demand, courses may be conducted at your location.

For Aircraft Dispatcher Certification, on-site training is available for groups of eight or more participants.

For Aircraft Dispatcher Recurrent, on-site training is available for five or more participants.
